All residential pools and outdoor spas in Queensland must be registered with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC). Fines are applicable if your pool or spa is not registered.

Pool safety certificates are valid in Queensland for one year for a shared pool and two years for a non-shared pool.

For a residential pool safety certificate, it’s two years, but you’re not required to get another certificate unless you are leasing, renting, or selling a property. All you need to do is to make sure that your pool fencing remains compliant.

You can search the QLD Pool Safety Registration to check if a pool has been registered and whether a certificate of compliance (valid for two years) has been issued.
